DeNooyer, Adrienne D. 1/15/1956 - 2/16/2023 Kalamazoo, MI Adrienne "Adie" Dorothy DeNooyer passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, February 16th, 2023, after a long, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on January 15th, 1956, to Frank & Marcia (Borst) Krol in Rochester, New York. There, she attended Penfield High School where she was a competitive athlete, often playing multiple sports at a time and even joining men's teams when there was no alternative option for women. She went on to receive a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology from Calvin College. Adrienne met her husband, William "Bill", while on the beaches of Lake Michigan and then again when on vacation in FL with her girlfriends. Their meeting was kismet, as Bill puts it, and they quickly fell deeply in love. One year later they were married on June 5th, 1982. The inscription on their wedding rings read "love never ends" and that remains as true today and it did back then. They raised their three children in Kalamazoo, developing lifelong friends in this warm, supportive community. Adrienne was an incredible mother - always the loudest cheerleader on the bleachers, who nurtured each of her children's aspirations with love and encouragement. The beautiful impact she has made on her family will ripple for generations. There are many titles that we can attribute to her: forever life partner, loving mother, thoughtful friend, committed volunteerthe list could go on and onbut, we know first and foremost, her title will always be beloved daughter of God. She lived her life with passion and purpose, with the biggest heart to help others, whether through her volunteer work or as part of her daily life. She had a deep, personal relationship with the Lord which was a wellspring of peace, love and joy for her throughout the years and especially when she became sick. In May of 2019, Adie was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Despite her circumstances, she remained competitive - always wanting to get back to playing pickleball - and thankful for the people God placed in her path. Her family is forever grateful to the compassionate doctors and care teams that went above and beyond in supporting them throughout this journey. She is survived by her loving husband, William; children, William (Kathryn) DeNooyer of Kalamazoo, MI, Michelle (Tim) Hiller of Grand Rapids, MI, and Christina (Marco) Oropeza of Chicago, IL; grandchildren: Nicholas and Theodore DeNooyer; Daniel and Emma Hiller; and Marco Oropeza. Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life service, which will be held at Centerpoint Church, 2345 N. 10th St Kalamazoo, MI 49009, on Tuesday, February 21st, 2023, at 11am, a reception will be held immediately after the service at Kalamazoo Country Club.
