Died Saturday morning January 21, 2006. Albert was born January 3, 1931 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of Dirk and Agnes (Barents) Langerveld. He served Honorably with the U.S. Navy years ago. He had been a lifelong Portage resident and was employed with Hydreco Tool and Die Company for 35 years before retiring. He also attended Portage First United Methodist Church. Al was the greatest husband, dad, and friend a family could ever hope for. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Cornelius, Richard, and Karl Langerveld; and a sister, Martha Langerveld. On March 8, 1950, he was united in marriage to June C. (Small) Langerveld who survives. Also surviving, 3 children, Rick (Vita) Langerveld of Comstock, Brenda (Earl) Sprague of Kalamazoo, and Todd (Karen) Langerveld of Pullman, WA; 5 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; 2 sisters, Caroline Dupon of Florida and Jane Stuut of Plainwell; a brother, Carl (Janet) Langerveld of Comstock; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Private services and burial will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center. Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave.
