Truly sorry to hear about Mike's passing. I dop not remember at time in my life when "Mike and Mary" were not in at least my thoughts. We enjoyed their visits to us or our visits down to them so much. I remember one summer when we went up north to Pine Lake and suddenly Mike and Mary showed up. They were camping by us and we boys spent turns fishing with Mike that week. What a treat! I also enjoyed so much taking my mother on our anually trip down to Battle Creek. Mike and I would set out back of their apartment and would talk all afternoon. Mike was a good man and I know that he and Mary are now together once again. Kirby

It was my pleasure to get to know Mike, albeit toward the end of his life. We met through the Today Center and Tendercare. Mike was a fascinating man and I enjoyed listening to his life experiences. His work ethic and determination to improve the work place as well as to always grow personally were refreshing stories to hear. Mike added to my life in his own special way.

Al,
I am so sorry to read about Mike's passing while reading the Enquirer on the internet from Florida. Mike spent the last 20 years of his Union Pump career, and the first 20 of mine, guiding me on too many things to list. I think back in the late 60's he was the best in the company at striving to learn and implement new technology in manufacturing that eventually developed us into a leader in the industry. Yes, he was very set in his ways once he picked out the goal, but the results were usually a benefit to all of us. Sitting side by side for many years, I want to share these few things about how Mike felt and believed. He believed in God, was terribly hurt with the lose of your sister, proud beyond words of you and your service record, was enchanted with the grandchildren, and loved Mary totally and felt she deserved total credit for his blessings. He was and is a good man.
Warmest regards,
Grant

Mike was a great person to visit with at Tendercare. He provide a lot of humor to my day. I know he appreciated the staff at Tendercare. More than anything he liked knowing he could count on Al visiting twice a day. He also longed to see Mary Lousie again. Mike was a great gift to everyone that knew him.

I am very sorry about the passing of "Uncle Mike". I can remember stopping at the house on Meachem as a kid to visit with Mary Louise and Mike while I was bike riding. Although his brother Lyle is my actual Uncle, I have always considered Mike part of my family also. He will be missed. Being away in Illinois makes it difficult to be at his memorial, my thoughts and prayers are with Allan and the rest of his family.
