Obituary
Passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at his home. George was born June 24, 1937 in Kalamazoo, the son of George and Wayve (Stolp) Westcott and has lived in the Gobles area all of his life. George served the Gobles community for many years both as a Police Sergeant and a Firefighter. He was a self employed contractor owning George W. Westcott and Sons Sanitation Service and George Westcott Jr. Contractor. The last 15 years he and his wife Jan owned Jan's Trailside Cafe in downtown Gobles. George was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent every spring on Bois Blanc Island hunting morel mushrooms and catching suckers. Surviving is his wife of 43 years Jan; three children, George Earl (Danny) of St. Joseph, Denise Louise (Jamie) Manley of Gobles, Judith Anne (Michael) Ludy of Burbank CA; a granddaughter Brook Lynn (Jason) Manley of Gobles. He was preceded in death by a brother Bill (Jonnie) Westcott. The family will meet friends on Thursday from 2 -4 and 6 - 8 PM at the GOBLES CHAPEL, D. L. Miller Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 AM, Pastor Carol Newman officiating. Interment will follow in Kendall Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to either the Gobles Pine Grove Fire Department or the Kalamazoo Animal Rescue.
