Leona Boje

Passed away Thursday May 17, 2012. Leona was born June 17, 1924 in Kalamazoo to the late Paul and Goldie (Roggo) Ruimveld. She retired from Michigan Bell Telephone Company where she worked as an engineer for many years and was a proud member of the AT&T Pioneers. Leona was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Kalamazoo Bowler's Hall of Fame. On March 23, 1946 she was united in marriage to Norman C. Boje who preceded her in death in 1993. Leona was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Donald and William Ruimveld, Geraldine Miller and Claudine Vanderbeek. She is survived by her children, Linda Daugherty of Ohio and Norman P. Boje of North Carolina; grandson, Brian (Breanne) Daugherty of Kentucky; brother, Paul (Anita) Ruimveld, Jr.; sister in-law, Rose Ruimveld and several nieces and nephews. In accordance with Leona's wishes, cremation has taken place and at her request she asks everyone to show an act of kindness today in her memory. Private inurnment will take place in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park - North. Memorial contributions in memory of Leona may be given to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
