Carol Rantz

Sue peacefully passed away on February 3, 2012 after a brief illness. She was in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. Sue was born on August 31, 1937 in Charlotte, MI, to Jack and Gwendolyn (Stone) Hutchinson. She graduated from Plainwell High School in 1955, where she met the love of her life. Roger and Sue were married on January 21, 1956 and recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Together they had four cherished children: Debbie (Hank) Stone, Gaylene (Steve) Haslett, Lauri (Bruce) Stone, and Jack Rantz. She was also blessed with 12 Grandchildren, their spouses and 12 Great Grandchildren all of whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her brother Barry (Esther) Hutchinson of Plainwell, MI; sister in law Dolores (Edward) Elder of Desert Hot Springs, CA; brother in laws, Gene (Judy) Rantz of Northport, MI; Gordon (Mary Jane) Rantz of Plainwell, MI, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother in law Gerald and Adeline Rantz, and her sister and brother in law Char and Dale Cowels. Sue enjoyed being surrounded by her family and many friends. She owned and operated the Lorraine Dress Shop. Together with her husband, Roger, they have been involved in the family business at Timber Ridge Ski Area for 50 years. In her spare time, Sue also enjoyed golfing, bowling, crafting, playing cards, summers in South Haven and winters in Florida. She was a beautiful woman with a huge heart and leaves behind many loved ones to cherish her memories. Following her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial celebration will be held Sunday February 12, 2012 from 2-6 at Lake Doster Country Club in Plainwell, MI. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be sent to Allegan County Wings of Hope Hospice. The family was assisted by Life Story Funeral Homes (685-5881).
