KOLSKI, ALBERT JOHN Wyoming Albert John Kolski, age 86, of Wyoming, MI passed away, Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at his home following a short battle with cancer. He will be lovingly remembered by Marilyn (Carney), his wife of 50 years; his son, Russell (Tammi) Kolski of Newaygo, MI; his daughter, Stacy Fresby of WI; along with his grandchildren, Ashleigh Kolski, Maxwell and Jonathan Hiler; his niece, Linda Melodini; and nephews, Robert Grimes and Charles Brennan. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Anastasia and Stanley, his sisters Agnes, Irene and Frances all of the Pittsburgh, PA area. Al was born June 25, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA. He served his country in the Navy during World War II, including service on D-Day at Omaha Beach, Normandy. He graduated from Duquesne University then joined the Army Officers Reserve Corps for an additional three years. Al was employed by Westinghouse until he and Marilyn relocated to Grand Rapids in 1965. He retired from Lear Siegler in 1988 then worked as an independent subcontract administrator. Al faithfully worshipped at St. Mary Magdalen and offered many years of volunteer service for the American Red Cross and the Second Harvest Gleaners. Al enjoyed coin collecting, bridge, golf and spending time with his son. Memorial contributions can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Faith Hospice. The family extends sincere appreciation to staff of Faith Hospice of Grand Rapids. Inurnment will be at Fort Custer, Battle Creek, MI. A mass in celebration of Albert's life will be at St. Mary Magdalen, Kentwood, MI on Thursday, February 9, 2012, 11 am.
