Leo C. Boice Jr.

Leo C. Boice, Jr., age 76, of Springfield, passed away January 30, 2012. Leo was born February 6, 1935 in Battle Creek the son of Leo and Ruth Boice, Sr. He married Carol VerPorter on November 2, 1963 in Bellevue and she survives. Leo retired from Grand Trunk Railroad as an inspector in 1996 after 44 years of service. He also retired from the City of Springfield as a volunteer fire fighter in 2010 after 33 years of service. Leo was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1960. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and golfing. Besides his wife Carol, Leo is survived by his daughters: Melissa Boice of Battle Creek, and Mindy (Craig) Campbell of Springfield; his grandchildren: Ashden (Joey) Collige of Bellevue, Cody Boice of Battle Creek, and Aubreana, Madelynn, and Alyssa Campbell of Springfield; and his sister: Sondra Ferguson. Leo was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Funeral services for Leo will be held on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Royal Funeral Home, Battle Creek. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Burial will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta with full military honors. Memorials in Leo's name may be directed to Evergreen Manor.
