Doris Betz

BETZ (Comstock Park) - Mrs. Doris Betz, age 91, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 29, 2012. She received her B.A. in Education from WMU and her M.S.W. from MSU. Doris worked for Montcalm Intermediate School District, retiring in 1980. For 22 years she assisted children in Ionia and Montcalm County schools. She loved her work but gladly would have served children and their families without pay. Doris also helped with AWANA for many years. She was faithful to her Lord and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Doris is survived by her children, Mrs. Sharon Barrett-Kramer; and her husband, Richard of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Laraine "Lari" and Vernon Dunmire of Kentwood, Michael W. and Carol Betz of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Sarah and Marty Ray, Jennifer and Christopher Becker, Erin and Peter DeGraw, Elizabeth Dunmire, Christian and Heather Betz, Emily and Andy Tyra, Elke and Paul Meek; great-grandchildren, Caitlin Ray, America and Katherine DeGraw, Annika and Lauren Betz, Maggie Meek, Elijah and Emma Becker; sister, Leta Mae and Brent Ostrander; brother, Laurence and Barbara Warner; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Wayne Betz, her parents, Floyd and Bertha (Chaffee) Warner, and son-in-law, Ray Barrett. The Service of Praise and Thanksgiving for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ for Mrs. Betz will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Northland Baptist Church, 4162 Hunsberger, NE, Grand Rapids with Pastor Doyle DeGraw officiating.
