Dr. Arnold J. Boeve, 79, of Holland, passed away, Thursday, June 23, 2011, at the Hospice House of Holland.

Arnold was born in Holland, MI, on October 29, 1931, to Lester and Alyda Boeve. From 1951 to 1954, during the Ko­rean Confl ict, he served in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Irwin. Return­ing to Holland, he gradu­ated from Hope College in 1958. It was at this time he met and married Bar­bara Gesink. Arnold con­tinued his education at Loyola University, where he received his doctorate in dental surgery in 1962. After practicing dentistry in Barbara’s hometown of Sheldon, IA, for 34 years, he retired in 1996 and moved back to Holland.

Throughout his life, Ar­nold served as an elder in his church and on the Boards of Directors of Dordt College, the Shel­don Public Library and the Sheldon Christian Retirement Home. In his retirement, Arnold was an active volunteer for Bibles for Mexico, Habitat for Humanity and CRWRC­DRS. He was a member of Niekerk Christian Re­formed Church.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara; children, Bonnie and Ken Cavin of Snohomish, WA, Philip and Marie Boeve of Holland, Connie and John Korver of Moville, IA; eight grandchildren; sisters, Annabel and Jack Kluitenberg of Holland and Bonnie Sandford of California; brothers, Don and Millie Boeve of Hol­land, Irvin and Sharon Bo­eve of Holland, Jim and Von Boeve of Holland, Terry and Rose Boeve of Holland; sisters- in- law, Mrs. Adrian ( Lois) Tin­klenberg of Zeeland, Con­nie and Paul Sterenberg of Holland; brother- in- law; Junior and Elinor Gesink of Sheldon, IA.

Funeral services with military honors are sched­uled for 10 a. m. Tuesday, June 28, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E 16th St., Holland, with the Rev. Robert Hol­werda offi ciating. Burial will be in East Holland Cemetery. Visiting hours are planned for 5-7 p. m. Monday, June 27, also at the funeral home. Memo­rial contributions may be made to the Christian Reformed World Relief Committee ( CRWRC).
