Died Thursday afternoon, July 14, 2005 at his residence with his family by his side. Robert was born January 30, 1925 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Maurice and Almeda (Janes) Doxtator, and had lived in the Kalamazoo area for most of his life until moving to Baldwin with his wife 25 years ago. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 38 years as an equipment foreman in the mechanical department at Conrail. Robert was a member of the 12th Street Baptist church and served as a Boy Scout and Explorer Scout Leader for 12 years. Robert was preceded in death by his wife Beverly on November 16, 2001; and was also preceded by brothers, Herman and Jackie Doxtator; an infant sister, Mary Louise Doxtator; and a grandson, Keith Dale Doxtater. Surviving are 5 children, Richard Leach, Jack and Sherlon Doxtater, Thomas Doxtater, all of Kalamazoo, Gloria Griffis of Battle Creek, and Rodney and Donna Doxtater of Kalamazoo; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Lesman of Vicksburg; and a sister-in-law, Dolores Doxtator of Alabama; nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 o'clock Monday at the 12th Street Baptist Church, 3911 S. 12th St., with Pastor Randy Burnett officiating. Interment with military honors by the Comstock V.F.W. Post #6252 and the U.S. Army at Hope Cemetery, Texas Township. Friends may meet the family today from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. Memorial contributions in Robert's memory may be made to Hospice of SW Mich.
