Ruth Lando

Ruth died on Monday April 18, 2011, in Kalamazoo, MI. She was born April 15, 1921, in Toronto, Ontario a daughter of Harry and Mary (Levy) Kaufman and moved to Kalamazoo in 1945. Ruth was a member of the Congregation of Moses and very active in Hadassah, serving at the local, regional and national levels. She also volunteered many hours in the community. On August 11, 1946, Ruth was united in marriage with Irving Lando, who preceded her in death on June 11, 2003. She was also preceded in death by: a daughter, Lianne Lando; a son David Lando; her parents and a brother, Lawrence Kaufman. Surviving are: three children; Levi (Chaya) Lando of Chicago, Robert (Tema) Lando of Kalamazoo and Lori (Eric) Beck of Bishop, CA; eleven grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude (Abe) Rudover of Windsor, Ontario; sister-in-law, Eileen Malone of Essex, Ontario; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was a special friend to many and an inspiration to everyone. Services will be held 11:00 Thursday morning at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, with Rabbi Harvey Spivak, officiating. Interment in Jewish Riverside Cemetery will follow services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be directed to Hadassah.
