Obituary
Mary Edith McNeil, 85, of Battle Creek, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. She was born on February 17, 1925, in Pikeville, TN, the daughter of Milton Winfield and Lavada (Lester) McMillon. Edith was formerly employed by the Battle Creek Public Schools and Arrowood Nursing Home. She was a homemaker most of her life. Edith loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crochet, cooking, baking, gardening and plants. She was a member of the Church of Christ and attended the Tuesday Ladies' Bible Class. Edith married Mr. Ray McNeil on February 18, 1946. He preceded her on June 15, 1996. She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Jack) Kleczynski of Fremont and Denise (Tony) Schumacher of Battle Creek, and her son, Stephen (Rosa) McNeil of East Leroy. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers, Carl McMillon of Vandalia, OH and Eugene (Elizabeth) McMillon of Helena, MT, and four sisters, Dorothy (James) Morrow of Evansville, TN, Willie Grace (Norman) Angel of Pikeville, TN, Alice Swafford of Dunlap, TN and Elizabeth (Louis) Smith of Soddy Daisy, TN. Edith was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Royal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Royal Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Good Samaritan Hospice Residence or the American Cancer Society .
