Norman Benson

BENSON - Norman L. Benson, aged 71, of Kentwood, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on Wednesday, September 8, 2010. He was preceded in death by his father, Ardyth Benson; brother, Harold Benson; sister, Sharon Benson. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 45 years, Mary; children, Erik (Dawn) Benson, Kristen (Matthew) Roberts; grandson, Penn Roberts; mother, Ruth Benson; brother, Eldon Benson; and many nieces and nephews. Norm proudly served our country as a member of the US Army, received his Bachelor's Degree from Saginaw Valley State University, served 23 years in the Birch Run Area Schools, and loved serving his church in many different capacities including youth leader, Sunday School teacher and deacon. Funeral services for Norman will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Princeton Christian Reformed Church, 5330 Kalamazoo SE with Rev. David Poolman officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Chapel (Kentwood), 4646 Kalamazoo SE Saturday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to John Knox Food Pantry or CRWRC.
