Obituary
Died December 7th, 2009 in Royal Oak, Michigan. Born July 20, 1926 in Otsego, Michigan to George Vivian and Mankin. Married Kathryn McCelland October 3rd, 1947 in Allegan, a1945 graduate of Allegan High School, where he was an all-state athlete lettering in all sports a World War II veteran including service as a drill sergeant at West Point. Employed by Blood Brothers, later Rockwell International until his retirement in 1982. Member of the Fraternal order of Elks, VFW, and life long member of the fraternal order of Eagles and parishioner of the Episcopal church of the Good Shepherd. Major pain in the rear to every governmental agency and medical insurance company. Survived by Kathryn, wife of 63 years and four sons, Randy (Linda), Dennis (John), Steve (Jeanne), Kelly (Michael), nine Grandchildren and seven Great Grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Kathy Dirette, and sister Ina "Jean" Lehl. Memorial service to be held Saturday, December 12th, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 101 North Walnut Street, Allegan, Michigan. Reception immediately following at the Church. Private Internment at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800 Washington, DC 20004, the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, or the Wings of Hope Hospice, 530 Linn Street, Allegan, Michigan 49010.
