JOHN - Lindsey Leigh John, age 23, of Rockford, passed away and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 24, 2009. She is finally at peace after a nearly three year battle against brain cancer. Lindsey John defined the word "selfless." She made everyone around her smile no matter what the situation. She has inspired and touched so many people that she has come into contact with. Lindsey graduated, in 2004, from Rockford High School with a 4.002 GPA. She graduated, with honors, from Michigan State University with a BA in Marketing in 2009. She was a state champion in track and in cross country. She was a track and field All American and an Academic All State award winner. She will be missed dearly by her parents, Michael and Darlene John; her brother, Jason John; her sister, Shayna (John) McCloskey and Trent McCloskey; her grandparents, Les and Barbara King, and Clifford and Mary An John; her aunts and uncles, Ronald and Annette King, Gary King, Clifford and Courtney John, Mike and Margaret McCormick, Andy and Lisa John, Chris and Janet John; her cousins, Benjamin, Carly, Mitchell, Alex, and Sam King, Alex, Caitlin, Ally, Ryan, and Kayla John. Lindsey (and the entire John family) is blessed with an entourage of extended family and friends. This group supported Lindsey during treatments, comforted her when she was hurting and carried her when she was no longer able to carry herself. This entourage gave of their time, their talents and their treasures. To you, we will be forever thankful. Lindsey lived a long beautiful life in a very short period of time. The Mass of Christian Burial for Lindsey will be offered on Saturday morning, November 28, 2009 at 11:00 o'clock at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Church, Rockford with the Rev. Tony Russo presiding. Interment will be in Rockford Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Hermelin Brain Tumor Foundation, Henry Ford Hospital, 299 West Grand Blvd. Detroit, MI 48202. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Friday from 3 to 9 p.m. The Pederson Funeral Home, Rockford www.pedersonfuneralhome.com
