WERDEN - Shirley A. Werden, age 68, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, went home to be with her Lord and Savior after a battle with cancer. She was born September 7, 1941 in Grand Rapids the daughter of Harold and Genevieve (Tyler) Helmes. During her working years she worked as a waitress for over forty years. Shirley loved playing bingo, quilting, crocheting, collecting elephants, and spending time with her dog, Molly. Surviving are two sisters, Elaine (Leo) Kelley, Sherilynn (Dave) Sherwood; three brothers, Tommy (Marlene) Helmes, Tim Helmes, Greg (Joan) MacDonald; her children, Luke McMillan, Lori (Randy) Kallas, Suzie (Jim) Hunter, Brian (Pam) Stilson, Joseph Stilson, Gary (Wendy) Stilson, Kathy (Rodney) Starr, Becky (Ed) Hartman, Karen Stilson; 20 grand-children and five great grandchildren; a special cousin, Joe (Christine) Helmes; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Genevieve and Arthur MacDonald and Harold and Gladys Helmes; two husbands, Floyd Stilson and Tom Werden; a brother, Harold Helmes Jr.; and two infant children. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Morley with Pastor Steve Finn officiating with burial in the Aetna Cemetery in Morley. Friends may call at the Heckman Funeral Home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and prior to services on Saturday at the church.
