Carolyn (Ashley) Davis

DAVIS - Carolyn Jean (Ashley) Davis, age 61, passed away at her home in Tallahassee, Florida on Wednesday, September 23, 2009. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 38 years, Robert and her son, Christopher and granddaughter, Riley. Carolyn was the daughter of Earl and Leona (Stumm) Ashley. Her father preceded her in death. She leaves her dear sister, Janet and brothers, Robert and James. Carolyn grew up in Grand Rapids and graduated from St. Thomas, Central High School and went on to Grand Valley State. Later she worked at The Grand Rapids Press when she met her special husband, Bob. Flying was her hobby and she received her sailplane license at Benz Aviation. After marriage she spent two years in Italy until her husband mustered out of the US Navy. They had one son, Christopher and a granddaughter, Riley. Carolyn lived in Tallahassee, FL where she worked at St. Louis Catholic Church until retirement. She will be truly missed by those who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Tallahassee. As of her wishes she was cremated and her remains will be returned to Grand Rapids at a later date.
