Life Story / Obituary
Passed away Friday, December 24, 2004 at Semper Care Hospital at Bronson in Kalamazoo. Stanley, the son of Cornelius and Jennie (Rhem) De Boer, was born November 28, 1932 in Kalamazoo. He served his country with the U.S. Army 7th Cavalry Unit in Germany, and graduated from Western Michigan University. In 1956 he married the former Margaret Kuiper who survives him. Stanley worked over 40 years for EATON in Kalamazoo and also in Shelbyville, TN after he and his wife moved there in 1984. Following retirement from EATON he spent 5 years in Distribution Services for Middle Tennessee State University. Stanley was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro, TN and had been a member and Deacon at Third Reformed Church in Kalamazoo. The De Boers returned to Michigan in October of 2003. Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons: James De Boer and David (Anita) De Boer, all of Kalamazoo and Edward De Boer of Murfreesboro, TN; two sisters, Beverly De Boer and Evelyn (John) Van Donselaar, all of Kalamazoo; and 3 nieces and a nephew, Joyce Kroes, Jan (Rik) Zelenock, Judy (Scott) Bovenkerk, and Norm Van Donselaar. The family will meet friends this evening from 5 - 8 p.m. at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Third Reformed Church, 2345 N. 10th Street with the Rev. Charles Doornbos officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park with military honors provided by Comstock VFW Post #6252. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
