BYKER - James "Jack" Byker, aged 84 of Hudsonville, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, July 22, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathleen 'Kaye' Schaap Byker. Jack Byker was the fourth child of 11 born to Date and Johanna Byker of Hull, IA. He is survived by two sons and their families, Kenneth and Hollie Schipper Byker, Mark and Kim Byker; grandchildren, Jenna and Matias Martinez; great grandchildren, Matias, Gemma, Lucas and Hugo (Valencia, Spain), Justin Ekkel, Josh and Erika Blom, Hillary Byker, Katelyn Byker and Zachary Byker. Jack has a loving family of brothers and sisters and their families, Henrietta Byker, Dorothy Byker, Kay and Ray Hamstra, Bert and Marion Byker, Marlene DuPree, Don and Winifred Byker, Willis and Mary Jane Byker, Harry and Joan Byker. He was preceded in death by brothers, Gary Byker, John Byker, Leonard and Marie Byker, sister, Jeanette Byker, brother-in-law, Don De Pree. Jack served in World War II in the Coast Guard and Navy. He was an active member of First Christian Reformed Church of Hudsonville and supporter of Hudsonville and Unity Christian Schools. The family invites you to join them to celebrate his life at VanderLaan Funeral Home on Friday, July 24 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral service will be held at First Christian Reformed Church of Hudsonville at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009 with Rev. Don Van Slyke officiating. Interment Georgetown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Hudsonville Christian School or Unity Christian High School.
