ZAGUMNY - Mr. Walter S. Zagumny, aged 89, of Grand Rapids, Veteran of WWII, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Maxine, and his brothers, Felix and John Zagumny. He is survived by his son, David (Cindy) Zagumny; his grandchildren, Todd (Yvonne) Zagumny and Amanda (Ryan) Salesman; and his great-granddaughters, Paige and Sara Zagumny and Riley Salesman. He is also survived by his sister, Jane Perkins; sister-in-law, Lorraine Plachecki; and many nieces and nephews. Walter served in the U.S. Army in WWII, was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, a life member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and a retiree of General Motors/Diesel Equipment. He was an avid golfer, bowler, tennis player, and master at crossword puzzles. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Visitation one hour prior to Mass. Burial Holy Cross Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider St. Ann's Home or Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
