William Aukeman

AUKEMAN - William J. Aukeman, aged 83, of Hudsonville, was called home to the presence of his Heavenly Father Friday, May 1, 2009. He was born June 19, 1925. Bill was a lifetime farmer who considered it a privilege to tend God's creation. He was involved with numerous boards that were related to agriculture and sought to be a wise steward of all God's resources. He served on the Jamestown Township Planning Commission for many years. A faithful member of Zutphen Christian Reformed Church, he served the church in many capacities. Bill loved people and always demonstrated a kind and gentle spirit. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Stephen Lee, son-in-law, John Regts, brother, Carl, and sister, Thelma Bolthuis. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna Mae (Driesinga); his children, Wanda and Roger Izenbaard, Wendell Aukeman, Beverly Regts, Amy and Joe Caires; his grandchildren, Lisa and Jeff Bulthuis, Michael and Haley Izenbaard, Mark Izenbaard, Jennifer and Tommie Waddell, Gregory Regts, Benjamin Regts, Kristina Caires, Alexander Caires; three great grandchildren; his brothers, Frank and Ann Aukeman, sister-in-law, Thelma Nienhuis, Owen and Mary Lou Aukeman, Julian and Elaine Aukeman, Calvin and Mary Aukeman, Melvin Aukeman; sisters, Nellie and William Masselink; brother-in-law, William Bolthuis; in-laws, Annabelle Driesinga, Calvin and Florence Sall, Wilma Schierbeek; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Zutphen Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Josh Van Drunen and Pastor Jeff Bulthuis officiating. Interment Zutphen Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family at the VanderLaan Funeral Home Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Zutphen Christian Reformed Church Family Life Center.
