Maxine E. Tromp, 86 of Fennville, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at the Grace of Douglas. Born Jan. 12, 1923, in Bravo, MI, she was the daughter of Haile and Emma ( Burch) Orr. Maxine was a retired secretary, formerly working for Haworth in Holland, Citizens Trust and Savings Bank in Saugatuck, Fennville Public High School and as Ganges Township Clerk. She was a member of Community Church Douglas and past member of the Ganges United Methodist Church. She was formerly active in the youth ministries and as a Sunday school teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lysle Tromp, in 1993; and by one son, Lt. Commander William Tromp in 1966, in Vietnam. Surviving are her sister, Lillian Wright of Fennville; and several nieces.
Memorial services will be 11: 00 a. m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the Community Church Douglas, with Dr. Daniel N. Miller officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Community Church Douglas or Grace of Douglas (Harbors Health).
