Betty Balyeat

Betty Balyeat, age 89, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2008. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Bob Peterson, older brother, William Peterson and sister, June Eding. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Gordon W. Balyeat; two adopted children, John (Carol) Eding of Chicago, Ann Marie (Stewart) Forer of Warwick, RI; sister, Dorothy Beukema; four nephews, James B. (Nancy) Peterson, Thomas M. (Vicky) Peterson, John (Karen) Beukema, James (Marie Anne) Beukema and niece, Judy Beukema West. Betty enjoyed playing golf and tennis at Kent Country Club, Fly Fishing, raising roses and just being outdoors. She especially enjoyed her time at her cottage on the Pine River and for the last 30 years during the month of August spent on the coast of Maine. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 6 at 11 a.m. at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Chapel. The family is being served by Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Service
