Peter Vanden Engel, age 89, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 21, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife, Berdena (Knott) Vanden Engel. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Darlene (Denny) Lynn, Sr.; grandchildren, Tracy (Marc) Muller, Rebecca (Rich Smith) Langland, Daniel Langland, and Jessica (Nick) Veeneman; step-grandchildren, Denny (Marva) Lynn Jr., and Ken Lynn; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Helen Vanden Engel; several sisters-in-law; special cousin, Betty Voogt; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Peter lived a life of service to his Lord and by his actions, inspired many others. He was a WWII Army veteran and worked most of his life as an accountant in the Grand Rapids area retiring from Gelock Heavy Movers. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Baldwin St. CRC - 2101 Baldwin Dr. Jenison. Interment will be at Georgetown Cemetery. The family will meet with relatives and friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Jenison Chapel of Cook Funeral Home - 1889 Baldwin Dr., Jenison.
