Mary Vande Wege

Mary C. Vande Wege age 101 of Holland died Thursday, July 31, 2008. Mary was born on January 29, 1907, was a lifelong resident of Holland, and graduated from Holland High School. She worked as a book keeper for 24 years at T. Keppel’s and Sons. Mary was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church where she was active in the women’s groups as well as being an honorary member of the Woman’s Literary Club. Mary was preceded in death by her husband John on January 27, 1994 after 67 years of marriage. Surviving are her children-Mary (Muncie) and Ted Boeve of Holland and John and Nan Vande Wege of Salem, SC; grandchildren-Ted Boeve, Julie Olsen, John Boeve, Mary Ann Collison, John Vande Wege, Jeff Vande Wege, and James Vande Wege; 7 great grandchildren; “Aunt Mary” to numerous nephews and nieces and their children and grandchildren. The family is grateful to the staff at Appledorn Living Center, her home for 5 years, and to Tendercare where she resided for the last 2 months. They all treated her with dignity, kindness, and love. Funeral services will be 11 am Monday at Trinity Reformed Church, 712 Apple Ave., with the Rev. Lynn Post officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visiting will be 2-4 and 7-9 pm Sunday at the Dykstra Life Story Funeral Homes-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street. Memorials may be made to the loving community of Hospice of Holland.
