Chester Liszewski

Mr. Chester Liszewski, aged 94, of Grand Rapids, Veteran of WWII Normandy Invasion, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 28, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Jadwiga (Jodzis) Liszewski; wife, Harriet (Kwiatkowski) Liszewski in 1993; sister and brothers, Helena (Dudanowicz) Osinski, Tadeusz Liszewski, Stefan Liszewski. Surviving are his children, Joan (Mick) Kirkwood, Michael (Connie) Liszewski, James Liszewski, Betty Liszewski; his grandchildren, Judy (Frank) Florido, Steve (Ronnie) Kirkwood, Mark (Leslie) Kirkwood, Paul Kirkwood. Joe (Kate) Liszewski, Rob Liszewski; great grandchildren, Brendan, Griffin, Bridget and Christian Florido, Emma, Owen, Lucas and Hannah Kirkwood; sister, Maria Senda Szpliszki of Poland; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Robert and Delores Kwiatkowski, Edward Arsulowicz, Celia Kwiat, Christine Kwiatkowski; cousins, Ruth Liszewski and Barbara Pieri; many nieces and nephews. Chester was a retired Tool & Die worker from General Motors (36th St. plant). He was a lifetime member of Polish National Aid Society, a former member of CCC also an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, the U.P. and Beaver Island. He was one of the founding members of Blessed Sacrament Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial and Committal Service will be celebrated Monday at 11:00 a.m. (He will repose in church one hour prior to Mass). Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Arsulowicz Brothers, Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance Rd., where the Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions to Blessed Sacrament Church or Faith Hospice Trillium Woods will be appreciated.
