Passed away on April 9, 2008 at Bronson Hospital with her family by her side. Dorothy was born on May 27, 1911 in Lake Odessa, MI, the daughter of the late John S. and Ambia (Wright) Caie. Dorothy was generous, hardworking, compassionate and selfless. She was an avid reader. She was an extraordinary woman who was loving and kind to everyone she met. Dorothy emulated the meaning of her name "Gift from God". She was faithful and was a good servant. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was an inspiration to all who met her. She never spoke a negative word about anyone. She had a love for life and a positive nature. Dorothy was a former employee of Mt. Carmel Mercy Hospital in Detroit. She married Earl Castator, the love of her life on January 3, 1935 and was married for 64 years. He preceded her in death in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her son, Reverend Clark Castator and a sister, Marion Smith. Dorothy is survived by four daughters, Gail (Peter) Stenborg, Susan (Kenneth) Aho, Janet (Dean) Lovett-Humphrey and Nancy (Randall) Gabrys; 15 grandchildren, Gwen, Greg, Fred, Gaylene, Wayne, Peter, Lori, Peter, Steve, David, Michael, Michael, Kevan, Kristy and Kathryn; several great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn (James) Roher; a sister, Claudine Ator and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends today, Friday, April 11, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the REDMOND Funeral Home 4100 S. Westnedge-343-6156 where funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 12, 2008. Interment will be in DeWitt Cemetery, DeWitt, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of S.W. Michigan.
