James Stuart Huizinga, age 77, of Richland, MI, died on October 11, 2007. He was born March 18, 1930 in Grand Rapids, the son of John and Dorothy (Herrema) Huizinga. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Holly Elhart Huizinga. Also surviving are eight children, Cheryl (Larry) Stratton, Doug (Liga Purins) Huizinga, Barbara (Tom) Visker, Michael Huizinga, Marci (Darrel) Bushouse, Pat (Fred) Miller, Susan (David) Haas and Phil Huizinga; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Marv (Carolynn Teisman) Huizinga, Don (Lucy Beckett) Huizinga, Bill (Donna Sexton) Huizinga; three sisters, Mary (James) Haagsma, Lucille (Don) Kuiper and Margaret (Ron) Vredeveld; brother-in-law, Edward "Bud" Harkes; and a sister-in-law, Betty (Moelker) Huizinga. Private burial with military honors at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, at the Fourth Reformed Church, 6339 Atlantic Ave., Kalamazoo. Visitation will be held today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., Kalamazoo, and from 1 to 2 p.m. at church on Saturday. Memorial contributions in Jim's memory may be made to Lending Hands, Hospice of SW Michigan, Canine Companions for Independence, or the charity of your choice.
