Dear Deanna and Paul,

Is a doctor supposed to enjoy their visits with their patients so much? Everytime I saw you, you were the highlight of my day. You were the highlight of my entire practice in Otsego. God, how I will miss that smile.

Love,

Lexi

Dear Bill:

I wanted to send to you my sympathy on the passing of your brother, Paul.

It is so hard when we must let go of the ones we love so much.

If not for you Bill my life would not have been so filled with love and happiness, yet sadness too.

But that is the cycle of life and I’m so glad to be here on this earth to enjoy it. And besides without you (so to speak) I would not have had the two beautiful daughters nor the three darling grandchildren I love so dearly. For it was you, that brought my home in Richland (to play pool in Jan. of 1960) the boy that became the love of my life, Dennis Lee Sweet. He and I married in 1968, our daughter Denise Kaye was born that same year.

And as you may know Denny died in June of 1968. Two and a half months later our Sweet, Candi Lee was born and life became good again as it will for you and your family one day. Candi looked and acted just like her father and like him she too died young, at 28. But she and Denny both live on in my granddaughter Jessica Lee, now 17.

I believe it was in 1964 when I last saw you in downtown Kzoo, but one does not forget the kids we knew in our teenage years. I can still see you, Jim Bogema and Bill Potts walking towards downtown Kalamazoo, the three of you were on top of East Main hill across the street from the drug store when you came across the street to talk to me in my Mother’s car. It was a Sat. in Oct. of 1959 and two of you wore Central varsity jackets.

Thank you again for having Denny call me to tell me you wanted to break up with me giving him the chance to ask if he could call me sometime. It ended up being every few days for the next 3 years until he went into the Navy.

Please say “hello” to your brother Mike as I remember him also. My cousin Helene Hyet sends her thoughts too.

Paul and I shared a dislike of our President Bush. We traded books we found discussing the Bush view and shared many a laugh. We also shared our frustrations about the Bush government. Pauley, I will miss you alot. May God bless you. You are still on my prayer list. Love you and until we meet in heaven peace be with you.

Jean, Ann, Marie, Eileen, Mike, Steven and Bill,

So sorry to hear about Paul. Haven't seen or talked to him in several months. I called him for some family info, but he was absolutely no help. I put together a book, for my grandchildren, about all sides of their family and, of course, they wanted to see pictures and know about all you guys. Paul gave me Jean's number but I was never able to connect with her. Other than this sadness, hope you are all well and happy. Hard to believe we are this old....again, sorry.

Ken, Jodie and PJ,

So sorry for your loss. Haven't seen or talked to your Dad for several months. We always said we would get together for lunch, but of course, we never did. Other than this tragedy, hope you are all well and happy.

I remember Paul when we were baler operators at Fisher Body in Kalamazoo, Michigan. What a fun time and great guy. Of all the people I argued with Paul wouldn’t argue, he would just agree with you and laugh, thus no argument on anything. He was a very likeable guy and will be missed greatly. I always think we’ll all see each other again someday, rest easy Paul. An old friend, Dennis Thomas

Good bye, my friend. You will truly be missed in this world. If not for your wonderful wife, Deanna, we may have never crossed paths and as I always told you, you are one heck of a special person! I would have missed out not having met you. You are a hootenany. Deanna means the world to me and it makes me so sad that she will now be without you, but I also know that you were her world and I am so happy that she did have the time with you that she did. I always loved seeing you, joking around, pestering you, and especially cutting up with laughter. There was never I time that we spoke or we saw each other that we didn't laugh and carry on about something or other. As a matter of fact, your smile and laughter will always be with me and you will always have a special place in my heart. As I promised to you, Paul, I will always and forever look in on Deanna and be there for her, and remember, as you watch over her and all of your loved ones in your family, you were truly loved by all of them. Especially Deanna.

Rest in peace, my friend.
