Obituary
Gordon Samuel Knapper, Sr., 85 of Battle Creek, died Wednesday, September 12, 2007.
Gordon was born in Battle Creek on June 18, 1922 the son of Samuel and Vera B. (Trine) Knapper.
Gordon retired from Battle Creek Packaging and Bread Wrapper Company in 1981 after 15 years of service. He previously worked with American Fire Apparatus, A. B. Stove Company and Oliver Electrical Manufacturing.
Gordon was a member of the North American Hunting Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, bowling and Country Music. Gordon is well known as the "Praireville Cowboy."
Gordon is survived by his sisters, Genevieve B. Hind of Battle Creek and Geraldine N. (Edward) Masterka of Grand Rapids; brothers, Thomas D. (Maurine) Knapper and Gerald N. Knapper of Battle Creek; stepsisters, Larine Brennan and Aloma Madsen of Battle Creek; special friend and companion, Pat Vought of Battle Creek; and nieces and nephews.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hettye Knapper; and son, Gordon S. Knapper Jr.
Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2007 at the Royal Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2007 at the Royal Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Kinzel officiating.
Interment will be in the Bedford Cemetery.
