William Gallmeyer

William C. Gallmeyer, aged 90, of Porter Hills, died July 6, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara W. Gallmeyer in 2005. Surviving are his daughter, Martha H. Buse of Santa Fe, NM; his sons, William W. (Ann) Gallmeyer of Holland, Charles C. (Ellen Chamberlin) Gallmeyer of Grand Rapids and Daniel T. (Amy Moore) Gallmeyer of Grand Rapids; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Marjorie H. Bjork of Grand Rapids. Mr. Gallmeyer spent his entire professional career working for the family business, Gallmeyer & Livingston Co. where he served as the company president. As a youth he earned Boy Scouting's highest rank of Eagle Scout. He was the Past President of the Y's Men's Club of the Y.M.C.A., past board chair of the Blodgett Hospital Board, past board chair of the Grand Rapids Public Museum, former chairman of the board of directors of the National Machine Tool Builders Association and he chaired the Board of Directors for the West Side Federal Savings and Loan Association. He was a member of the University Club and longtime member, usher and governing board member of Fountain Street Church. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 20, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fountain Street Church, 24 Fountain St., N.E. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Porter Hills Benevolent Fund, Grand Rapids YMCA, or Fountain Street Church would be appreciated. The family is being served by
