Grace Goble

Grace Pauline Goble, age 78, of Rockford, IL, went to be with Jesus at 9:05 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007, in Alpine Fireside Health Center after a long illness. Born April 17, 1929 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Frank S. and Alice (Dunshee) Boyd. Lived 19 years in Rockford, IL, coming here from Lowell, after retiring from full-time ministry. Married the Rev. Melvin Goble on August 27, 1949, in Grand Rapids. Member of Rock Church, where she was a partner to her husband in pastoral care ministry for 15 years, retiring in 2004. Grace also served for years as an activities director for nursing homes in the Hastings and Lowell area. She was involved her whole life in helping care for people in and outside her church. Many grew to love her as an adoptive sister, mother or grandmother. Survivors include husband, Melvin; daughter, Mari Lynn (Curtis) Munson of Loves Park; sons, David (Linda) of Herndon, VA, Kenneth (Jean) of Fort Collins, CO, and Phillip (Marilea) Goble of Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Matthew) Brammer of Jersey City, NJ, Kenneth (Kira), Will, Jenna and Allison Goble, all of Springfield, MO, Brian and Peter Goble, both of Fort Collins, and Katie and Becky Munson, both of Loves Park, IL; brother, Russell (Agnes) Boyd of Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews and their spouses. Predeceased by parents; and brothers, Lawrence (Bessie), Robert and Francis (Alice) Boyd. Service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 13 in Rock Church, with the Rev. John Sprecher officiating.
