Mr. Jefferson Bernard Feiler, 80, of Dowling, MI, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at his home. He was born June 10, 1926 in Cedar Rapids, IA the son of Laurence Feiler, Sr. and Katherine Helen (Clark) Feiler.

Jefferson moved to Michigan in 1936 and attended school in Tekonsha, MI. He served with the US Marines during World War II, serving in Okinawa and China. He received a Good Conduct Medal and a China Peace Medal. Jefferson was employed at the Eaton Corp. for 32 years where he served as a supervisor for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He also owned the service / gas station in Dowling and farmed for many years.

Jefferson is survived by Wife of 59 Years and Sweetheart of 66 Years: Vivian Jean Feiler of Dowling, MI; Sister: Annabelle Dee Rigg of Lawton, MI; Nephews: Laurence G. Feiler III of Nappanee, IN, Ted Rigg of Lawton, MI and Peter Groth of Novi, MI; Nieces: Laurie Turner of Dexter, NM, Kathy Grant of Coldwater, MI and Janine Loughrin of Mattawan, MI; Great Nephew: Laurence G. Feiler IV of Elkart, IN; Adopted Son: Brian & Sandy Olmstead of Hastings, MI.

He was preceded in death by his Parents; his Daughter: Mary (Feiler) Makuch (1998); Sister: Kay Groth; Brothers: Peter A. Feiler and Laurence Feiler, Jr.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and being a good neighbor. He is a member of the Dowling Country Chapel, Eaton Quarter Century Club, Striking Sixth (6th Marine Division), and a life member of the VFW Post 422 in Delton, MI.

Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Friday, March 16, 2007 from 5:00-8:00 PM and on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the Dowling Country Chapel from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 17, 2007, 11:00 A.M. at the Dowling Country Chapel with Rev. Patricia Harpole officiating.

Burial will be at the Dowling Cemetery in Baltimore Township, MI.
