Leola M. Jones, 78, of Battle Creek, died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at her home.

Leola was born July 5, 1928 in Dilltown, Pennsylavnia the daughter of William Harry and Ellen (Kane) McLaughlin.

She graduated from Armagh High School and Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, in 1949.

She joined the U.S. Air Force and was a nurse in the Nurse Corp., serving from 1951 thru 1953.

Leola worked as a Registered Nurse at Community Hospital, Veterans Administration Hospital and was a part time instructor at Kellogg Community College.

Leola M. McLaughlin married Louis C. Jones on July 10, 1952 in Mountain Home, Idaho. He preceded her in death in 1973.

She is survived by her children Michael (Jane DeVries) Jones of Battle Creek, Ellen (Steve) Vollmar of Mattawan, Amy (Roger) Nay of Denton, Texas, Lisa Jones of Battle Creek; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Quinn of Timonium, Maryland; brother, Grant McLaughlin of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers Harry, Jim, Bob and Ed McLaughlin and a sister Margaret McLaughlin.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 44 years and a member Battle Creek Health System Auxiliary. Leola was very active in the Miriam Circle at church, enjoyed traveling and playing bridge with her friends.

At the request of the family, friends may call after 6:00 p.m. today at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church with the Dr. Rev. Jeffery S. Carlson officiating. Interment next to her husband will be held at a later date.

Friends, who wish, may make a memorial contribution to First Presbyterian Church.
