My deepest sympathy is with your family. During these times it is especially important to draw close to God in prayer, for the Bible promises that âhe himself will sustain you.â-Psalm 55:22. It is always hard when we lose a loved one because we have a built-in desire to live and enjoy life with our family and friends. That is why death is not natural for us. However, at these times, we need encouragement and hope so that we can cope with our lost. For that reason, we can be encouraged by reflecting on the promises that God has given us thru his word the Bible, concerning the hope of seeing our loved ones again. I hope that you find comfort in reading these scriptures. John 11:11-44, John 5:21, 28, 29, Acts 24:15 and Revelation 21:3, 4. My prayers are with your family.

What can I say about my Uncle Lyle. I suppose I shoulldn't speak about mixing Aunt Leta's powder and other concoctions in the toilet when I was a child. It seem I was mostly forgiven? The best thing I can say about a man that I respected and admired very much was the fact that he took very exceptional care to my Aunt when she was ill and fading away. No matter what he was feeling or doing, Leta came first. I hope that I have the same dedication to my wife when we get older. I enjoyed my visits with him and the stories that were told was never repetitive. Something always reminded him of a previous encounter; either work related or experiences he had while in the military. It was always interesting conversation. He loved his family; even his extended family. He met my sister Jackie from my father's first marriage, and who was re-united with the family a few years back. He was very friendly and gracious and made her feel welcome. There was always a smile, a firm handshake or a strong hug, regardless of how he was feeling. Lyle Abels will be missed, but he has gone home to a great re-union with family and friends. I just hope that I can be half the special person that I have had the priviledge to know and admire.
