Passed away peacefully at his home, Tuesday, May 23, 2006. He was born August 9, 1950 in Alpena, the son of the late Thomas M. and Barbara (Seaton) Spens. He was married to Diane Duby on October 20, 1973 in Alpena; she survives him. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. He was employed by V&V Lumber. Surviving besides his wife are his sister, Linda (Rubin) Ascenio of Detroit; two brothers-in-law, Douglas (Marlyn) Duby of Ypsilanti and Donald (Lynn) Duby of Alpena; and two sisters-in-law, Karen Sheahan of Bay City and Deborah (Larry) Sterzik of Green Bay, Wisconsin. A private family memorial mass will take place at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Alpena. Memorial Donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan or the American Cancer Society.
