Shirley Abrams

Abrams, Shirley A. Shirley passed away on Wednesday afternoon, December 17, 2014 at Tendercare of Westwood in Kalamazoo. She was born on June 8, 1929 in Lawton, MI, the daughter of the late Frank and Inez (Silvernail) Grimm. Shirley was a member of 12th Street Baptist Church. Surviving are her four children, Raymond (fiance, Bobbi Sharpsteen) Lapham of Otsego, Patricia (Richard) Kirk of Kalamazoo, Kenneth "Dale" Lapham of Kalamazoo and Calvin "Roy" Lapham of Kalamazoo; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; five sisters and brothers, Jason Grimm, Elgie Grimm, Byron Grimm, Jessie "Betty" LeRoy and Wauneta Hutchins; and former spouse, Kenneth Abrams. Funeral services for Shirley will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, Dec. 22, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-5 PM on Sunday, Dec. 21, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to West Michigan Cancer Center or Alzheimer's Association .
