Roland "Rol" Edward Warnicke, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2014 with Arlene by his side. He was born April 26, 1925 in Spring Lake, MI to Bernhardt and Bertha (Whitney) Warnicke. Roland grew up and went to school in Spring Lake and South Haven, MI. At the age of 17 moved to Kalamazoo, then went to Pearl Harbor and after completing school worked as a machinist in the Pearl Harbor Navy Shipyard. In 1947 he returned to Kalamazoo and worked for Allen Test Products, where he worked for 45 years retiring 1991. Roland enjoyed construction, machine work and was an excellent woodworker and carver. He also enjoyed deer hunting and fishing with his family. Roland was a very caring loving person who was always there to help if you needed him. Although he was always single, he took care of his parents at home. Family was very important to Roland and was especially close to his brothers, Bernard and Don. He loved family get-togethers and spent very much time with Don & Arlene's family. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Donald, Norman, Maurice, Charles and Bernard Warnicke; and a sister, Betty Joyce Warnicke. Roland is survived by a brother, Kenneth (Margaret) Warnicke of Kalamazoo; sister-in-laws, Arlene Warnicke and Hazel Warnicke; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and special thanks to his caregivers, Glen, Arlene, Amberly and Sarah. Service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, December 19th from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Friends may meet the family from 12-1 PM prior to the service at the chapel. Entombment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Kidney Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
