Life Story / Obituary

Print

Tom Uzarski passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Katie Uzarski. Tom is survived by his loving siblings, Linda and Mike Boruta, Sue Uzarski, Kathy Jo Uzarski, Mike and Mary Uzarski, Dan and Kathleen Uzarski, Karen and Paul Wila, Jim and Christine Uzarski, Laurie and Kevin Weiss, and Dave Uzarski; special friend Jeannie Murray many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Tom was the proprietor of Tempo Printing where he used his exceptional talents in promoting and supporting his love of polka music and Polish Heritage. Tom performed on the tenor sax for over 45 years almost exclusively in the polka industry and probably is best remembered for his days with the Tripol-Aires. Tom was always ready to pull out the sax and play along at numerous celebrations throughout the years and any polka jam session that came up. Tom was a member of the Polish Falcons Hall, Pulaski Days Committee, and Polish Heritage Society. Tom was also the founder of Polka and Pops in the Park. Tom’s family will remember him for: Tomisms, which were always a no-nonsense view on life issues, with an unintended chuckle; His unusual perseverance training he used on young siblings, trip them –they get up – trip them again; He was ahead of his time in sensory deprivation studies, toss the youngster in a closet and hold it closed until they stop banging; 70s van with shag carpet everywhere; Driving said van (or perhaps Rocky’s(?) through the streets of Milwaukee to get his heat stroked brother to the hospital; Plow truck that took up almost two parking spaces in length and (almost) needing a ladder to enter; Falling down the basement steps on Garfield; “I bought a barn”; Allowing his grade school brothers to “help” unload grocery trucks for the hour between Mass and school; Summer softball pick-up games with the polka friends; Waking up his youngest brother at 2AM and telling him it’s time to get ready for school; Waffle blocks; Too many more to mention, add yours into the comments. I’d like to believe he was most proud being the oldest brother in the Uzarski clan. We will always be proud to say the same. In lieu of flowers, hug your kids and loved ones. A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 1:00 – 5:00 PM at The Guest House, 634 Stocking Ave. NW. Please consider contributions in Tom’s memory to Polish Heritage Society Dozynki Festival or Pulaski Days Committee.
