Gordon W. Church

CHURCH, GORDON Gordon W. Church born to Arthur and Clara Church on August 6, 1925 in Grand Rapids. Gordon, 89 a Veteran of WWII entered eternal life on Sunday October 26, 2014. Survived by his wife Rosemary (Bolek) Church, son Kevin G. (Baerbel) Church, stepchildren: Joseph (Laura) Bolek, David (Joan) Bolek, Thomas (Sally) Bolek, Michael (Cindy) Bolek, Robert (Nancy) Bolek, Jan (Ted) Kuzma, twenty grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren, brother Carl (Bernie) Church, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty J. and his son Kirk G. Church, sisters: Geraldine Whitney and twin sister Ruth Dunn. Gordon's family roots in Alpine Township go back to the 1840's. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII, met his first wife Betty (who passed away in 2003) at a YMCA dance in 1945 in Denver CO. The two married in 1951 in Sparta MI. In 1964 he moved to Grand Ledge to work for General Motors, he retired in 1987, moved to Dimondale MI, lived there until 2004. He married Rosemary Bolek in 2005. Gordon was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Anthony of Padua Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 11:00 AM. Interment Alpine Twp. Cemetery. His family will receive visitors Wednesday 6-9 pm at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance NW. A Rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 8:30 pm. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Anthony's Together We Grow Fund. The family would like to thank Spectrum Health Hospice.
