Gary Baar

BAAR, Gary Mr. Gary Baar, age 64, passed into the arms of Jesus on Oct. 23, 2014 surrounded by his most prized possessions: sons Christopher, Joshua, Brandon, daughters-in-law Brenda and Aubrey; and the love of his life since junior high, his wife, Char. Gary is also survived by six grandchildren; his mother Joan Baar; brothers and sisters Char and Len Felgner, Greg and Ellen Baar, Pam Sands, Brian Baar; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Nancy and Butch Hogan, Rick and Nancy Kious, Jan Shade, Linda and Darwin Korf, Deb McNeil, Chuck and Pat Kious; and many nephews and nieces. Born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI, Gary attended Kentwood High School. He served in the Michigan National Guard for six years and later attended Aquinas College earning a BA in business. He was employed at Steelcase and retired after 27 years. Gary and Char owned and operated Cook's Drive-In; a local favorite to this day. He was a very active member in the community and made many great friends throughout his life. His love for life, family, and friends were the qualities he stood for. We will miss his smile, humor, infectious laugh and business expertise. His tender loving heart and compassion will always carry on in the lives of those he touched. A celebration of Gary's life will be held Tuesday, October 28, at 11:00 am at Redeemer Covenant Church, 6951 Hanna Lake Ave, Dutton, MI 49316. Pastors Jack and Sharon Brown will officiate. Interment will follow at the Alaska Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Sunday, October 26 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm and Monday, October 27 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids.
