Mildred Baskers-Figurin

Baskers-Figurin, Mildred M. Portage Mildred, known to family and friends as Millie, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2014. She was born on October 31, 1954 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Robert J. and Winifred M. (Gish) Weirick and was a lifelong resident of the area. Millie graduated from WMU with a Bachelor's degree and later went on to receive a Master's degree. She worked as a special education teacher for several years then was employed by MRC of Kalamazoo for the past 7 years. On July 13, 2001, she married Richard Figurin, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Kaili Baskers and Kodey Baskers; three step-children, Robert Figurin, Darla Tarantino and Richard Figurin; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; two sisters, Mary (Greg) Patchett and Alyce (David) Bird; and 14 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; and two brothers, Robert Weirick, III, and Richard Weirick. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM, on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. The visitation for Millie will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
