BRINKS, Donna Mrs. Donna Kay Brinks of Rockford, age 70, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday, September 19, 2014. Donna was born to Elmer and Elsie (nee Herbst) Holle in Cleveland, Ohio on February 10, 1944, and had been a resident of Rockford since 1988. Donna was a graduate of Heidelberg University and taught for Comstock Park Public Schools for almost thirty years before retiring; she loved taking students to Williamsburg, Virginia on class trips that she organized and led. Donna was a very altruistic person; selfless and caring. She organized for the NE Supper House, supported and fundraised for Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society of Rockford; she raised many dollars over the years. She was also a woman of great faith and was very involved with her church. She played in the church bell choir, helped with Sunday School and Vacation Bible School; and served as Diaconate for over ten years. When the seasons allow, Donna would garden as often as she could, putting her green thumb to good use. Donna was a beautiful woman, inside and out. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, wonderful grandmother, and faithful servant to her Lord. Donna is survived by her beloved husband Robert; loving children Kelli (Bob) Schneider, Nicole (Dave) Ludge, Sara (Curt) Hansen, and Renee Brinks; eight grandchildren; and brother Richard (Sharon) Holle. She was preceded in death by her parents. There will be a time of visitation from 2:00 until 4:00 PM and from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe Street NE, Rockford, MI 49341. The funeral service for Donna will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Pederson Funeral Home; with Rev. Dr. Dick Woodward, Jr. officiating. There will be a one hour visitation prior to the service. Donna's family would like to offer a sincere thanks to special friends Mary Ohm and Eileen Benkhe. They would also like to thank all of the family and friends who offered wonderful meals and loving visits and to Emmanuel Hospice Care for their tender and compassionate care of Donna. Those wishing to offer expressions of sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial contribution to Comstock Park Congregational UCC, Capital Fund, P.O.
