Frank French of Kalamazoo passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the age of 93. Frank was born on June 27, 1921, the son of the late Earl and Suzanna (Richmond) French. He was a partner with Niewoonder Landscaping, retiring in 1970. He was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church, where he served as a deacon and volunteered visiting shut ins. He enjoyed bowling in the church bowling league, gardening and wood working. He was married to Winnie (Niewoonder) French; she preceded him in death. He later married Elleen (Koning) French; she survives him. Also surviving are two daughters, Judy (Michael) Chappell of Ft. Worth, TX and Susan (Ron) McElwain of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren, Michael Chappell, Beth (Dietrich) Mills, Daniel (Casey) Chappell, Kristen (John) DeGroot and Michelle Case; eleven great-grandchildren; step-children, Terry (Jeanne) Smit, Kathy (Ken) Klaasen, Sarah Post, Keith (Debbie) Smit, Julie (Stan) Alphenaar, Trudy (Phil) Eshuis; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and several in-laws and other extended family. He was preceded in death by one grandson, David Chappell; one great-grandson, Asher Chappell; five brothers and two sisters, Richard, Clyde, Kenneth, Katherine, David, Rosemary and Earl Jr.; and one step-son, Russ Post. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Road, Kalamazoo, MI 49004. Rev. Wayne DeYoung will officiate with interment in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Second Christian Reformed Church or a
