Richard Mero

Richard Mero, age 63, passed away at Kairos Dwelling Home on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, with his family at his side. Richard was born in Kalamazoo on May 1, 1951. He remained a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo and was a graduate of Loy Norrix. Richard was a very athletic man who enjoyed tennis, golf, and football. He was also an excellent snow skier who worked at several ski resorts. He attended St. Monica Church and had a strong faith in the Lord. He was a hard worker who was employed by Schoolcraft Public Schools and Indian Run Golf Course during the season. Above all, Richard was a selfless person who had a great sense of humor and was a joy to be around. He made friends easily and was always there for his family. He leaves them with many happy memories. Richard is survived by his mother, Elizabeth M. Nemedi-Mero; four siblings, Mary, Michael (Fay), Catherine (Curtis Isaac), and Thomas Mero; a special uncle, Al Nemedi; a beloved niece, Mariah Isaac; many cousins, aunts, uncles and life time friends. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 25, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake St. Kalamazoo, MI 49001, beginning at 11 AM, with Fr. Michael Hazard officiating. A visitation will be held on the same day at the church beginning at 10 AM until the time of the Mass. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
