Passed away Saturday evening, February 4, 2006. Mike was born March 12, 1945 in Kalamazoo the son of James F. and FloraNell (Shearer) Ackerman and had been a lifelong resident in the Kalamazoo area. He had been employed as a driver with BFI for several years. On December 20, 1992 he was united in marriage to the former Sally Rowland who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Amy Pirkel, Wendy Matheny, Dawn Ackerman, Michael Ackerman; 14 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; brothers and sister, John (Wilma) Ackerman, Charles Ackerman, Rosemary Ackerman, Roger (Carol) Ackerman, George (Lori) Ackerman; a step-brother, Jack (Carolyn) Bush; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 11:00 o'clock Wednesday at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Comstock. Friends may meet the family Tuesday evening from 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick. Memorials may be directed to the family.
