Leroy Lewis Courtade was born June 16th, 1936 to Margaret and Carl Courtade.
He was the oldest of 5 sons. He spent his early years helping on the farm, hunting and fishing, a passion he shared with his own children.
He graduated from St. Francis High school in 1954 where he was a well known football player and attained the nickname "Roar!"
He married Marilyn Fuller on Aug. 31st, 1957 at St. Francis Church in Traverse City. They had 6 children. He worked at Traverse City Iron Works for 23 years & Tower Automotive until his retirement in 2005.
Leroy took pride in his vegetable gardens, enjoyed bowling, picking morel mushrooms, telling stories and playing practical jokes.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn; Son, Christopher (Helmi) Courtade; Daughter, Deb (Chip) Sternaman; Son, Dave (Ruth) Courtade and Son, Stephen Courtade, 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; Brothers, Robert, Wayne, Dennis and Paul Courtade.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Carl Courtade; Son Michael Courtade and daughter Lisa Courtade.
He will be greatly missed by his family. Memorial Services will have been postponed and will be announced at a later date.
