Norman Levin, age 96, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Ridgewood Care Center. He was born in Chicago, IL, September 19, 1917, the second of 6 children of the late Victor and Anna (Nee:Marcado) Levin.

Norman graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1935”. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic during WWII stationed in the European Theatre. On February 10, 1946 in Chicago he was united in marriage to Ethel R. Potash who preceded him in death November 7, 2007.

Norman owned and operated Public Fruit Company for over 40 years. He was a member of Beth Israel Sinai Congregation. Norman enjoyed golf and was an avid bowler who became a state bowling champion in his age group. Above all Norman was devoted to his family and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his sons, Victor (Michelle) Levin of Encino, CA, Steve (Jan) Levin of Baton Rouge, LA; a grandson, Ben (David Johnson) Levin of Washington D.C.; sister-in-law, Anna Levin of Los Angeles, CA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his son, Owen Levin in 1991 and his siblings, Ougenie “Jenny” Carlson, Luna Koker, Albert, Ralph, and Sol Levin.

Graveside services followed by full military honors will be held Thursday, July 24, 2014, 11:00 A.M. at the Racine Jewish Memorial Cemetery, 612 Lathrop Ave with Donna Addy officiating.
