Passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2006 in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born November 9, 1950, in Okolona, MS, the son of William Abbott, Sr. and Mary Louise Abbott. Robert joined Galilee Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Mary Gardner, and sang in the first gospel choir. He was a 1969 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and attended KVCC. Robert was employed at National Waterlift for several years, and was an avid bowler. He was preceded in death by his dad; 2 brothers, William Abbott Jr. and Ernest Walker; 2 sisters, Jonell Abbott and Shirley Lazine; and a special uncle, Neal Abbott. He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Mary Louise Walker; 2 sons, Robert and James; 3 daughters, Donyelle, Misty and Donna; 3 brothers, Michael Abbott, of Kalamazoo, MI, Charles (Linda) Abbott and Albert Walker, of Racine, WI; 7 sisters, Willie Dean Mullen and Doris J. Abbott, of Kalamazoo, MI, Minnie (Tom) Gordon, of Racine, WI, Barbara (Archie) Carouthers, Mary K. Carouthers, Ola Gunn and Debra Metcalf, of Okolona, MS; a sister-in-law, Patricia Abbott, of Kalamazoo, MI; 6 aunts, Lois Herron, Maelou Kyles and Oretha Abbott, of Okolona, MS, Maybelline Blackman, of Plantersville, MS, Lunette Abbott and Flora (Charlie) Diggins, of Racine, WI; one uncle, Willis Williams, of Kalamazoo, MI; god-parents, Annie Pearl and Isaiah Slaughter, of Kalamazoo, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, with a 12 Noon Family Hour at the Galilee Baptist Church, Dr. J. Louis Felton, officiating. Friends may view 3-6 p.m. Monday at the Harper Funeral Home, 521 Douglas Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI. Interment Riverside Cemetery.
